Outlook Care

Environmental efforts recognised

Monday 1 December 2008

Outlook Care has been awarded an internationally recognised certificate for its environmental management system.

The internationally recognised ISO 14001:2004 certificate was awarded in November by assessment body URS (United Registrar of Systems Ltd). This certification is designed to help organisations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

To achieve this ISO14001, Outlook Care was required to establish an environmental policy which determined the environmental aspects and impacts of our services, and undergo a rigorous audit.

Penny Taylor, Chief Executive, explained, “We did not undertake this project lightly. Gaining this certification is a real boost to us as an organisation and clearly demonstrates our commitment to protecting the environment.”

After visiting 23 of our schemes and witnessing first hand the efforts of our network of Green Champions, Steve Walsh, Auditor, recommended certification to this standard. He commented, “The degree to which service user groups have been encouraged to participate as part of the ‘green community’ in Outlook Care’s environmental management system activity was a credit to all concerned."
