Training
We believe that a quality service requires dedicated, motivated, and well-trained staff. After all, people are our key resource when it comes to providing care and support services and it is important to ensure that all of our staff receive regular and appropriate training. This has created a skilled workforce and demonstrates our commitment to service users and staff.
We meet or exceed common induction standards and national skill and training requirements for social care staff.
These skills are regularly updated and staff are released for training to comply with regulatory requirements. This training is described as mandatory in our Training Manual and covers topics such as medication, health and safety, manual handling, food safety, first aid, fire and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
We offer a broad range of educational programmes which reflect the skills and competencies required by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). These include NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care.
In undertaking and satisfactorily completing an NVQ and a competency test, staff can progress through Outlook Care’s pay structure.
Outlook Care also offers a wide range of care courses for care and support members of staff at all levels. These reflect the specialist areas of our work, and cover learning disabilities, mental health, older people and supported living. These courses are important as they ensure that staff continue to develop their skills to meet service users' needs and the organisation increases its range of in-house expertise.
Our range of specialist programmes includes Positive Response which enables our staff to train others to support and manage challenging behaviour. This training meets the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD) Code of Practice standard.
Health and social care is a fast moving and developing sector and this is reflected in our training programmes. We develop new programmes that are relevant to our service users' needs.
Outlook Care is also accredited with Investors in People which recognises the development of our business through the development of our people.
