Outlook Venture appoints RG Carter Ipswich Ltd to build

Colchester Nursing Home

Outlook Venture Ltd (a subsidiary of Outlook Care) is delighted to announce that R G Carter Ipswich Ltd has been awarded the contract to build its innovative new 66-bed nursing home at Ypres Road, Colchester. Due to open in March 2013 the home will be run by Outlook Care, a not for profit organisation, and will bring first class dementia and complex nursing care together with over 70 new jobs to Colchester. The scheme has been carefully designed to reflect the rich history of the area and will comprise two units of 15 bedrooms on the ground floor specifically designed for residents with dementia and a further 36 bedrooms on the first floor for nursing care.

One of two key features of this home is the building itself which wraps around a large landscaped garden that will include herbal and sensory areas as well as patios for all ground floor rooms. Designed to bring the outside in, the winter gardens and a large terrace give residents on the first floor the feeling of space and light. There will also be two private gardens which will be for the exclusive use of dementia residents and their families.

The second feature is its Community Hub, which will become a focal point for events and activities. With its own internet café, activity rooms, therapy rooms, meeting rooms, mini gym and spa, the home will have a lot to offer residents, friends, relatives and the local community. Outlook Care is keen to work closely with local professionals and suppliers to provide services, as well as to recruit local people to work at the new home. The organisation is specifically looking for those who reflect its passion and values for delivering high quality person centred care in a way that upholds the dignity and uniqueness of each individual.
