An innovative new support service – People4People - will be launched across London next month to help maximise the independence of people in need of care, by giving them more choice and control over their own support.
We are currently working with the London Boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest to provide a more flexible approach to support, allowing people to choose their own carers, known as personal assistants.
The service will provide a matching system between customers and vetted Personal Assistants alongside services that offer optional ongoing employer support, advice and signposting. The person in need of support would be able to interview a range of people, to ensure the personal assistant is right for them.
Outlook Care will complete police checks, check references and existing training, as well as carry out induction and training to all personal assistants.
Being able to employ their own personal assistant will give people in need of support choice over who looks after them, and more control over the support they provide, as long as it fits in with their individual needs.
People4People is in line with the personalisation of social care, to provide more flexibility and choice to people needing support.
